Daruma—the tumbling dolls of Japan—bring good luck to those who use them. As a daruma doll always lands on its feet, you can hope for good fortune during the year.
You purchase a new daruma each year and color one eye when you make your good luck wish. You color the other eye when your wish comes true.
This very short video uses a miniature daruma purchased at the Fushimi-inara Shrine In Kyoto Japan.
We shot the doll on corrugated cardboard to obtain the rumbling sound. The simple music track consists of GarageBand loops. We used Motion to animate the eye. An iPhone 5S worked as the video camera. We assembled the Good Luck greeting in iMovie running on an iMac.
Good Luck throughout the year.
